Luke’s Jedi Academy on Ossus was destroyed after he had a moment of weakness and almost killed his nephew, Kylo Ren. Offering Grogu a choice demonstrated Luke's compassion and potential to be a great teacher, though he would later fail. While it was obvious that Grogu’s ability to connect with the Force grew significantly during his time with Luke, he still chose to leave his training and rejoin Din Djarin.
